Biography:
Mariam holds a PhD in molecular genetics of complex disorders from University College London, an MSc in Medical Genetics from University of Glasgow and a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Medical Sciences (Clinical Laboratory Sciences) from King Saud University. In addition, she has amassed years of clinical experience through working at the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to being a scientist, Mariam is the Art Director at Saudi Signatures, an artists' collaborative.
MIT Fellowship Research Abstract:
Mariam is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Gouping Lab, McGovern Institute for brain research at MIT and a visiting investigator at the Broad Institute. Her research is centred around the genetics and bioinformatics of complex diseases: such as Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and Autism. Using genetic engineering/bioinformatics tools to identify genetic variation and the pathway analysis that may be involved in disease Eitology.
