Walaa Khushaim founds Femtech Startup

Dr. Walaa Khushaim applied to the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship with the goal of founding a medical technology startup. During her PhD in Bioengineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Khushaim developed advanced biosensors for the rapid diagnosis of heart attacks. As a postdoctoral fellow at MIT under the supervision of Professor Hadley Sikes she researched bio-molecular engineering techniques to discover new reagent sets, validate the reagents using clinical samples, and build user-friendly rapid tests.
This summer, Walaa and some colleagues participated in the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship’s delta v, MIT’s student venture accelerator. It prepares MIT entrepreneurs to to launch their businesses into the real world.
A few days ago at MIT’s delta v Demo Day, Khushaim brought her dream to reality. Khushaim represented her team on stage and announced the launch their femtech startup Gees Health.
Gees Health is building a non-invasive product that measures key hormones in minutes and connects the results to lifestyle insights through their app. The company’s mission is to empower women with real-time hormonal feedback so they can take control of their health.
