Branch-shaped ZIF-8 for better H2 Separation

Energy-efficient solutions for hydrogen separation from gas mixtures are important for the future of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier. During her IBK Fellowship with Prof. Zach Smith, Dr. Fatimah Edhaim researched a branch-shaped zeolitic imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) nanoparticle. Their findings, published in Advanced Functional Materials in September 2022 provide a novel approach which can enable the development of advanced membranes in fields where percolation is desired, including separations, sensors, conductors, and batteries.
