Kamal Youcef-Toumi is an MIT professor of mechanical engineering. He was one of the team who originally organized the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship and has served as the director of the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship since the fellowship was established.

Youcef-Toumi has informally mentored many IBK fellows over the years as well as serving as the official faculty advisor to several IBK fellows in his field and on interdisciplinary projects.
